Who can use the forum?

Membership within CEBUG itself is not a requirement, although new registrations are screen prior to full activation. (Ability to generate content of any type.) In general, we expect people to either reside within Ohio USA or have some sort of role in connection with another computer user group. The most common examples of the later roles would be contributing authors of articles published in a blog or a business sponsor. Needless to say, there are a number of restrictions and limitations that apply to nonmembers in so far as the types of content that can be created and where it can appear.

For example, the only original content nonmembers may create are forum topics within the boards stored in the public message section. All such postings are held for review in a moderation queue prior to its approval for publication. Notices are sent when such content is approved, denied, or if a change is needed before it can be published. Nonmembers may also make comments (post replies) about published content created by others. Such comments are also held as pending until reviewed. Within the blog area authors may also reject comment postings they feel are unsuitable, although this is rare.

Registration and validation of someone's e-mail address must occur as the first step to obtaining access. This is an integral aspect of our opt-in process to confirm interest, and in support of our Privacy guidelines. Unwanted invitations or registrations should reported whenever they occur, as we take the privacy of others quite seriously. Within a few minutes of registration a verification notice, with instructions, should be received. If you do not see this, please check your spam folders for a message from this address: no-reply at cebug dot org. (Used only in connection with system messages.) Activation of new accounts is usually complete within 72 hours or less, with a brief welcome message sent at that time.

For those new to our organization and system, feel free to read more about CEBUG and our mission to the community. Within the FAQ section are answers to common questions about how things work. We also recommend trying out the Search function to locate articles or questions asked by others that have already been answered. Our Officer Contact page is also available to anyone for questions of any kind.
